Upper Redgorton

River Tay, near Stanley. From the Craigs (boundary with Benchil beat) downstream to the mouth of the Shochie Burn. The upper part is the famous Fishponds beat, the lower half is Luncarty (west side) and Knowesbank (east side). The upper/lower beat boundary is shown by a marker post on the right bank just downstream from the hut.

The beat fishes double bank (with beat rotation) from the 2nd day of the season until 4 May when the boat is taken off and it reverts to single bank.

Availability in 2019

The association has two rods daily from the 2nd day of the season until early May, then six rods daily from early May until late June. In addition there is one evening permit (kindly donated by Mr Dunnet) from late March until the end of the season (all balloted).

NB This permit is kindly donated by Mr Dunnet, and is for the RIGHT BANK ONLY. Please do not fish the left bank on this permit.

Members should not approach the river before 6:00pm, and should also give pool preference to beat guests who stay on to fish in the evening. From 6 May to 22 June this permit is full beat (no upper/lower split). Outwith this period the above beat rotation applies (but is still right bank only).

Access

Leave Perth via the A9 north and go through Luncarty. The road bends sharp to the right. Continue for about half a mile and the access road is on the right, opposite the entrance to the sand quarry.
