As a few more sea trout are being caught recently, the identification of salmon/ sea trout, should be of interest to our members.This would assist in recording the PDAA catch returns

SALMON & SEA TROUT.  Salmon (1) can  be distinguished from large sea trout (11) by a more streamlined shape, concave tail,slimmer tail wrist,upper jaw reaching no further than rear of eye, few if any black spots below lateral line, 10 to 15 (usually 11 - 13), scales counted obliquely forward from adipose fin to lateral line.(Sea Trout have 13-16>
